Meet The Founder

I’m Alicia the founder of Powerfully Human. I’m a Psychotherapist dedicated to supporting you in exploring the darker more painful sides of yourself.

I don’t believe you are broken & you don’t need to be fixed. You are human & as humans we need support navigating the painful parts of life. When we hold space for this pain, we learn it comes with a purpose. We learn it’s here to be Harnessed.

Together we will strengthen your awareness of your behaviours, thoughts & emotions, how they effect your life and your connections. It is my role to witness your strength whilst teaching you how to hold space for the more uncomfortable experiences. Over time, you will slowly learn to harness the power in your pain.

I am informed by all parts of my knowledge & self in the therapy room, as a facilitator, space creator & as a creative. Currently I am studying a range of different somatic based therapy & support practices whilst engaging with Dr Jenn's services to expand and strengthen my knowledge and practice of de-colonising therapy. When I show up with you I show up authentically informed by all parts of myself & I invite you to do the same. With honesty & compassion we create a space for you to truly connect with yourself & thrive.

If you need support, reach out, I’m here to help.

My Experience

I decided at 14 years old I wanted to be a therapist, I just felt like I was here to help, at least, that’s what I told my friends when they would pull me aside at school, asking for support. I meant it too. Sixteen years later & I have been working in the mental health field for over a decade. I began my journey as a teenager volunteering for organisation including Youth Off the Streets, Camp Quality & the Education Centre in Wollongong.

Straight after high school I entered the academia vortex with a Bachelor in Arts majoring Psychology. I pushed through burn out like it was inevitable, with my eye on the prize I drove towards a goal I just had to achieve as soon as possible, completely hyper focused on the outcome & I achieved it. Once completed, without any hesitation I jumped straight into full time work as a case manager first with Life Without Barriers, an Out of Home care organisation followed by Project Youth in one of their Youth refuges. Quickly learnt one on one support with those who are searching for it fueled the same fire that pushed me to major in psychology. I wanted to support people, chat, hold space & help them explore all the most terrifying parts of themselves. This desire lead me straight to a Masters in Psychotherapy & Counselling with a deep sense of relief I found a subcategory within mental health support that made sense to me. I found like-minded people & therapy models that explain human experience in a way that felt true, enough. Once completed I reached out to headspace a youth centered organisation that provides free mental health support to people between 12 & 26. Funnily enough I engaged in this service as a teenager, so it felt right to start there. I experienced the first 4 years as a psychotherapist between 2020 - 2024 surrounded by caring people who created space for me to crumble and rebuild after years of repetitive burn out and hyper fixation. My goodness I am so grateful for this time. I found Acceptance and Commitment Therapy here too - a human centered therapy model that allows you space to experience all parts of yourself without feeling broken. Whilst conceptualizing & building the foundation of Powerfully Human.

Now I am a clinically registered psychotherapist and Founder of Powerfully Human, and I am here to help you reconnect with the parts of yourself you abandoned to cope.
